A 100 foot oak tree starts with a mighty acorn
At Mighty Acorn, we make it easier for governments to deliver world-class digital services. From renewing a fishing license to applying for unemployment benefits, we build digital services that enhance public trust and satisfaction.
Our vision is a world where “good enough for government work” returns to its pedestal: fast, reliable, and frustration-free. We achieve this by adhering to our shared company principles:
Our work is complex and guided by transformative thinking and real-world needs. Progress is made through frequent iteration, shared learning, well-understood objectives, and continuous improvement alongside our partners. We take small steps together as the best outcomes emerge through our collective exploration.
We act with integrity, empathy, and courage, even when it's challenging. We take ownership of our work while consistently advocating for the best outcomes. Our team stays flexible in how we get to a solution, working with unwavering commitment to trust and transparency.
We connect people, policy, and technology to break down silos and align every level of service delivery to build resilient systems that last generations.
We navigate uncertainty with enthusiasm and conviction, knowing that progress often begins without a clear map and requires exploration. We ask questions to build a shared understanding, anticipate risk, adjust course as we learn, and move forward with intention. We are teachable, we teach others, and we enjoy asking for and receiving help when we need it.
We lead with humility, service, and respect (with some humor too!) because how we work matters just as much as what we deliver. Our teams reflect the communities we’re building for, making our work relevant and meaningful for everyone.
Traditional recruiting is broken; lengthy assessments, information asymmetry, and then no response. It's stressful and demoralizing for candidates and agencies alike. We aim to do things differently.
Our goal is to match skills required for a role with the applications we’ve received. A real human, not an AI filter, will review all applications that meet the minimum qualifications. Beyond those minimums (like your physical location) the number one thing we look for in candidates is curiosity; we frequently see this manifested as the excitement to ask thoughtful and strategic questions or the willingness to dig deeply into things even when you aren’t sure how to solve them. This intellectual curiosity is the foundation of how we approach our work.
We respond to everyone. We won't ask you to complete anything additional until your application is under serious consideration. All candidates for the same role go through the same process, no exceptions. And if you're actively in consideration, you'll hear from us at least every two weeks.
The challenge with hiring for a consulting business like ours is timing; we're rarely looking for the right person at exactly the moment they're looking for us. To manage that, we often begin hiring ahead of confirmed projects and accept applications for roles we see coming. When this is the case, the job description will start with “position contingent upon contract award” so you know before you apply. If we're interested in your resume, we'll tell you where we are in our timeline before we ask you to invest any more of yours.
If the timing doesn't line up, we'll say so and offer you a spot in our talent pool for future openings. In return, we ask that you read the job description carefully and answer the application questions accurately.
Lastly, if for some reason we haven’t lived up to this commitment, we encourage you to contact us at recruiting@mightyacorn.com.
Technology moves fast and as a team who is keenly focused on providing expert support to our clients, we’re committed to continuous learning with a deep curiosity about the changing digital landscape.
